The VBK (Swiss Association for Building Protection / Plastics Technology in Construction) training course on “Coatings, Floor Coverings and Waterproofing” is an annual fixture in the industry’s training calendar. As a long-standing member of the association, Silikal Suisse has been supporting this course for many years – a collaboration based on mutual commitment and professional expertise. Last week, it was that time again: our colleagues in Switzerland supported this year’s course and shared their expertise directly with the participants.
Theory meets practice
This practice-oriented course offers construction professionals a balanced combination of theoretical principles and practical insights into coating and waterproofing systems. A total of ten people took part this year – a smaller group compared to previous years, but one which offered the advantage of being able to address individual questions and needs in greater depth.
Our Swiss colleagues played a central role in the course programme: in an in-depth technical presentation, Sören Pieper explained the theoretical fundamentals and the versatile applications of PMMA. In the practical session, Dominic Lüthi and Tim Neu demonstrated the application of Silikal products on site, providing participants with valuable insights into application techniques and details.
Rapid curing time causes amazement
Course participants were particularly impressed by one of PMMA’s outstanding properties: its extremely short curing time. Just 45 minutes after application, the treated surface was fully cured – a fact that came as a real surprise to some of those present, who were working with this material for the first time. The high efficiency and performance of PMMA impressed across the board and highlighted its added value for everyday construction practice.
A tradition of collaboration
Silikal-Suisse’s long-standing support for the VBK training course underlines our commitment to knowledge transfer and the promotion of professional expertise within the industry. Through our close and long-standing collaboration with the VBK, we are making a significant contribution to the further development of the industry and the dissemination of innovative coating solutions.
A big thank you goes to VBK Switzerland for the excellent organisation of the course. We look forward to being part of this valuable event again next year.
