Choosing the right Priming is essential for a perfectly installed flooring system made of Silikal resins. Dirk Brück, Head of Technical Customer Care at Silikal, says: "As an initial guide, we offer installers a primer table listing the usual substrates and recommending a suitable Priming Silikal. In addition, we always recommend carrying out a substrate test. Ultimately, the installer is responsible if the Surfaces has not been sufficiently tested."
Priming forms the basis for a stable MMA floor system. In order for these resins to adhere well, the Surfaces must be optimally prepared. This means that it must be sufficiently absorbent, clean and free of dust and loose particles. In addition to the wrong choice of Priming , inadequate substrate treatment is also an occasional practical error.
To ensure that the floor can be installed safely, tensile adhesion tests should be carried out as part of the substrate test before the actual Priming. A simple quick test can only be a preliminary test. Dirk Brück says: "Ultimately, a professional tensile adhesion test saves time and money. Because when in doubt, it is always better to have a mini surface tested than to have to renovate a large area later."
